What is Swing Trading?

Reviewed by the ONCHAIN TRADE DOJO team · Updated March 12, 2026

Holding positions for days or weeks to capture medium-term market movements.

Example

A swing trader buys at a support level on the 4-hour chart and holds for several days to weeks to capture a larger price wave ('swing') — say from €3,000 to €3,600. Unlike scalping, what counts is not speed but patience and a clean risk-reward ratio. Swing trading fits well alongside a full-time job, because you do not have to sit in front of the chart constantly.
